The 100
Season 2, Episode 6: Fog of War
Wednesdays 8|9c
Life on earth has gotten a little more complicated for everyone. In the first season, the teenagers on earth were just trying to survive against whatever odds. Now that everyone is on earth, they're not only battling the elements; they're battling grounders, reapers, Mount Weather, each other, and their own demons. This show. I tell you. Watch this show.
It's been two days since the last episode took place, and tension is high. Clarke has explained Mount Weather to Bellamy, and they're waiting for Abby to make the decision and send them to rescue their friends. Everyone is walking on eggshells around Finn, carefully avoiding him as they try to decide what to do with him. Bellamy, like the perfection that he is, tells Clarke, "We're at war. We've all done things," but is still uncomfortable in Finn's presence. Murphy is still trying to graft himself back into their group, but Clarke tells him, "Just because they've pardoned you doesn't mean I have." Ouch. Not that I blame her, but it's a good thing Murphy has a sense of humor.
(ALSO. INTERJECTION. IN THE FIRST SEASON, FINN TELLS CLARKE THAT SHE CAN'T TRUST BELLAMY WITH GUNS BECAUSE THEY'RE THE SAME AS NUKES IN HIS HANDS. CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT HOW NOW, FINN WENT BERSERK AND KILLED 18 PEOPLE, WHILE BELLAMY HAS PROVEN HIMSELF TRUSTWORTHY? I HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT THIS PARALLEL.)
Meanwhile, Raven discovers something interesting - their radios are being jammed by Mount Weather - and Mount Weather caused their Exodus ship to crash. Raven says she can fix it -
- but before they can get a plan together, Abby finds out and tells them 'no.' Major Byrne, who really has nothing to but stand around and ANNOY ME, says they can't spare the men for such a mission anyway.
Clarke suggests that they not take soldiers - she and the others can get it done. Abby, shockingly, agrees - with the condition she comes with them. Interesting. Abby brings Finn, which displeases Clarke, and Clarke brings Bellamy, which displeases Abby. Abby says Finn needs a chance to clear himself (um, Abby, he murdered 18 people. Please explain how a hike will clear him?) and Bellamy's survival knowledge makes Abby grudgingly admit it was a good idea to bring him along.
YOU KNOW IT.
They set up camp, but Abby notices there are two people missing....
who just happen to be the Blake siblings. (Ha.) When she confronts Clarke about it, Clarke tells her they're looking for a way into Mount Weather. Clarke sends four guards out after Bellamy and Octavia. Finn volunteers, but notices Clarke very wary of him picking up a gun. In true Finn fashion, he has (yet another) outburst and storms out of the camp. Clarke follows him and confronts him about his Grounder massacre. "It was an accident!" he says - and boy, Finn. I want to believe you. A tiny part of me even feels sorry for you. But an ACCIDENT? Can't you come up with something better? Just just then, acid fog fills the air and they have to hide - nowhere other than the bunker! (Ah, bunker, you must have such fond memories.)
Meanwhile, the guards catch up with the Blakes, and before they can take them back, the fog descends upon them, too. They find an entrance to a parking garage that is apparently attached to Mount Weather, but then they're set upon by reapers. The guards are killed, but Bellamy and Octavia have more smarts. A small problem arises when they see one of the reapers chewing up one of the dead guards, and realize...
...it's Lincoln.

I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT. I. KNEW. IT.
I knew it.
I KNEW IT.
AND I'M STILL NOT OKAY.
Bellamy and Octavia trap Lincoln and knock him out.
And feelings were felt.
Also I'm just going to stick some Bellamy here. You need it.

In Mount Weather, Doctor Tsing (Singh? Tsing? Sing?) tells President Dante that Jasper's blood has made Maya immune to radiation, and tells him they need to move forward with the 47.
Dante shocked me. He tells Doctor Tsing and his son Cage (aka Doctor Frankenstein) that no, they are not going to experiment on the kids unless they volunteer, like Jasper did. Wow. You go, Dante.
Dante tells them he'll ask Jasper for more volunteers, and he does. Jasper, without knowing what's really up, agrees and tries to convince the rest of the 47 that it's a good idea. They all say no, and just when Jasper is getting distraught about it and Monty is telling it like it is (Monty. I appreciate you. A lot) Maya walks in.
Spouting cheerful nonsense, she then proceeds to hold up a sign that freezes Jasper and Monty in their tracks.
They're all being listened in on. She tells them to follow her via another note, and leads them to a storage room where she shows them the captured grounders being bled out. Horrified, Jasper, Monty and Maya realize that they're going to be next if they don't do something - since Clarke escaped, security has been increased. Their only chance is to stall for time, they decide to volunteer until Clarke breaks them out (their faith in Clarke is beautiful). Dante is pleased at their cooperation, but Cage and Tsing say that if the rest of the teenagers don't volunteer, they'll just have to use them anyway.
Hey, I haven't mentioned Bellamy in a whole paragraph. This calls for another gif.
At the Grounder camp, Kane and Jaha are still imprisoned. The Grounder commander walks in and tosses them a knife. He says they'll have to fight, and whoever wins is the one he'll listen to. To make sure they go through with it, he leaves a girl named Lexa in the cell with them to let him know when they're through.
Then, Kane and Jaha have a conversation that basically goes like this -
"I'll go first."
"No, me."
"No, me."
"I insist. Me."
"No, I insist. Me."
"No, it has to be me!"
"Absolutely not. I'll do it."
ad infinitum.
Until Kane grabs the knife and cuts his own veins open. Jaha quickly staunches the bleeding, and, in desperation, grabs Lexa, putting the knife to her neck. "I choose to live," he says.
The girl takes him down like a boss and the commander walks back in; and we discover he isn't the commander at all - Lexa is! Lexa steps away, tells the general she's heard what she needs, and she's sending Jaha to give his camp a message before she talks to Kane.
Oops. Need more Bellamy.
That's better.
Hiding in tents from the fog, Raven discovers Mount Weather's frequency on her radio. Turns out the acid fog has always been Mount Weather's weapon; against the grounders, and now against them. Abby says they need to destroy the tower sending out the signal, but Raven points out that if they do that, they won't be able to listen in on Mount Weather anymore.
"I know what Clarke would do," she says.
We all do, Raven.
Back at the bunker, Finn and Clarke are having an awkward time. Finn is pulling a wretchedly pathetic puppy face and gives Clarke back her watch, but Clarke has a hard time getting around the corpse of the dead Grounder that Finn killed the week before rotting on the other side of the room.
Clarke:
Finn:
Clarke and Finn make it back to Abby and the others, and Abby tells Clarke she's decided not to blow up the tower. Wooot! But before they can celebrate this great decision on Abby's part, who should show up but Jaha, beaten and bloody, with a message.
They have two days to clear out -
or they will all die.
